Baby's mother tells inquest: '˜When I was seen by a doctor at QA Hospital, I knew something was wrong.'

AN INQUEST into the death of a newborn baby was opened today at Portsmouth Coroner's Court.

Proceedings into the circumstances surrounding the death Rafe Angelo were started this morning by assistant coroner Karen Harrold.

The court heard Rafe’s mother Kelly Angelo was due to give birth at the Blake Maternity Centre, in Gosport.

But complications during labour saw Ms Angelo transferred to Queen Alexandra Hospital in Cosham. Rafe died shortly after birth.

Ms Angelo told the inquest: ‘When I was seen by a doctor at QA Hospital, I knew something was wrong.’
