Calls to give gifts to older people at QA Hospital
Generous people in Portsmouth often donate presents to the children at Queen Alexandra Hospital but Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust wants to ensure everyone has a little something to open on Christmas Day. The trust said that often, the older patients do not have any visitors so might not get gifts.
A spokeswoman from PHT, which runs QA Hospital, said: ‘Our ward teams and the League of Friends work hard to ensure that each patient is made to feel special.

‘We are hoping this appeal will encourage personal messages and a small gift donation, ensuring everyone on our older people wards will have a special day this Christmas.
‘We are hugely grateful for all of the kind donations made each year to our younger patients and we hope that your kindness can make a difference to our older patients too.’
Presents should be in a new condition, fully wrapped and ready to give on Christmas day.

The hospital said suitable gifts ideas could include toiletries, soft jelly-type sweets, slipper socks with a good grip on the bottom, puzzle books or hairbrush and comb sets.
The QA spokeswoman added: ‘You can drop off your wrapped gifts and cards at our main hospital reception or to trust headquarters on F level of the hospital.’
