Coronavirus: Gosport positive Covid-19 man branded 'reckless' by police after being stopped in car with passenger

The 28-year-old man was stopped by police in a car on Weevil Lane in Gosport. He told officers that had he tested positive for Covid-19.
Police, who said he had no ‘reasonable excuse to be out’, have described his behaviour as ‘reckless’.

Hide AdThe man and a 19-year-old woman who was also in the car, were reported for summons in relation to fixed penalty notices.
Chief Inspector Mark Lewis said: ‘The national restrictions are clear that you should be staying at home. It is vital that everyone understands this and observes the restrictions in place.
‘These two people had no reasonable excuse to be out, and one of the individuals had tested positive for the virus.

‘This sort of reckless behaviour puts lives at risk, and risks continuing the spread of infection.
‘The message is clear – stay at home.’
