Event in Fareham hopes to raise awareness of eye condition
On Friday Sainsbury’s Broadcut, in Fareham, will have a stall for the Macular Society which will give out information on age-related macular degeneration (AMD) which causes sight loss.
As well as the stall, the charity’s regional manager Tom McInulty will be in the store with his guide dog Brunel.

Hide AdDavid Kett, the voluntary group leader, said: ‘AMD is becoming more common because it’s largely a condition associated with ageing.
‘It is a devastating condition. With late-stage macular degeneration, you cannot see faces, you cannot read and you cannot drive.
‘While AMD is the most common cause of sight loss in the UK, many people are unaware of the condition. We hope the events will help raise awareness and help more people understand it.’
The stall will be in the supermarket from 10.30am until 4pm.
