Olivia Falgayrac-Jones, head of primary care at NHS England’s Wessex office, said: ‘It is important that we have a strong workforce working within general practice, in order to deliver the best possible patient care. This includes the need to retain the skills of experienced GPs who make such a vital contribution.’

The scheme will recruit a ‘pool’ of GPs who will be able to work flexibly to provide cover, help carry out home visits and provide other clinical support.
