PENSIONERS are being urged to take advantage of free jabs as flu season approaches.

Flu vaccines are free from GPs or community pharmacies for those over 65.

Flu is a highly infectious disease. The symptoms that come on very quickly include fever, chills, headaches, aches and pains in the joints and muscles, and extreme tiredness.

Dr Shaled Ahmad, NHS England medical director for Hampshire and the Thames Valley, said the risk of serious flu was higher in those aged 65 and over and urged people to get vaccinated '˜as soon as possible'.
