Rowans Hospice open day will explain about care '“Â and exciting plans for futureÂ
A hospice in its 25th year of providing care to people across the Portsmouth area is aiming to dispel misconceptions at an open day this weekend.
Staff at the Rowans Hospice will be on hand to explain about the many services it offers and also tell visitors about a special Silver Jubilee Appeal that will be launched on the day to raise money for a total refurbishment of the hospice.  Â
Spokeswoman Theresa Bailey said: '˜We hope that people never have the need for our services, but want them to know about all we can offer them if they do.Â
'˜We do deliver outstanding care to people at the end of their lives, but we also offer support from the stage of diagnosis at both the hospice and the Living Well centre.
'˜If a person, or someone they know, is living with a life-limiting illness or caring for someone that is, we can help.'
The open day will take place on Saturday at the hospice in Purbrook Heath Road, Waterlooville, from 10am-2pm.
The hospice provides specialist care and support to patients with life-limiting illnesses, plus their relatives and carers, living in Portsmouth and south east Hampshire.
Staff will guide visitors through the journey patients and their families take from diagnosis, through to end of life and on into bereavement.
You can chat with staff and volunteers and also find out about fundraising, volunteering or work opportunities, plus activities for children to enjoy during their visits.
Theresa added: '˜Even if people don't need our services now it's a great opportunity to find out more about hospice care in the area, plus we'll also be launching our exciting plans for the future of the hospice.
'˜Rowans Hospice belongs to the community and is a place to be proud of.'
Those who cannot attend the open day, but who would like to find out more about care and services, can drop into the Rowans Hospice Living Well Centre between 10am and 4pm Monday to Friday.
