A DROP-OFF station has been created so people can deliver essential items to their loved ones in hospital after visiting hours were suspended.

People will be able to drop off items, as well as collecting items that patients may want taken home such as washing or valuables. outside the main entrance of Queen Alexandra Hospital on A level.

It comes after visiting was suspended at the hospital in Cosham due to the coronavirus outbreak which has seen 51 patients die with Covid-19, as of 9am on April 2.

Drop-off and pick-up will be available between 10am and 1pm Monday to Friday for the public and weekend drop off and collection will be confirmed shortly.

A statement read: ‘When you drop off items, we will ask you to fill in a form with some basic contact details. This area will be manned only between 10am and 1pm and once finished we will ensure that the bags are all distributed to their owners.

‘If you have property that you would like relatives to collect from the hospital please ensure these are brought down to the main entrance before 9am in a clear plastic bag with the relatives details clearly attached.

‘Please ensure you are adhering to social distancing when dropping items off and that you are only leaving essential items with our teams.’
