Writers set up fundraising short story competition for MS group

Perhaps you have some short stories on your laptop that have never seen the light of day?

Now you can enter them for a short story competition that has been created to help a charity.

The Lovedean Writers group has set up its first short story competition with a top prize of £50.

Entry fees are £3 and all the money raised will go 
to the Portsmouth MS Society.

Charlotte Comley explained: ‘When one of our long-term members’ daughters was diagnosed with MS the writers at Lovedean wanted to do something to help Portsmouth MS Society.

‘We decided to organise a short story competition on the theme of movement.

‘Group members have donated the prize money so that all entry fees will be donated to Portsmouth MS Society.

‘Authors have made some donations for the short-listed prize winners.’

The second prize is £35 and third prize is £25.

The maximum word count is 1,200.

The winning entry will be published in The News.

Lovedean Writers meet every Friday at 10am at Lovedean Village Hall.

Each are working on different projects and discuss their work at the meetings, which they find beneficial.

The group is open to new members and each meeting costs £4.50.

The closing date is January 31 and the winner will be announced in April.
