Eastney Cellars collects more than 500 keyrings in 1989

When it came to having somewhere to put their keys, the landlords of the Eastney Cellars, Cromwell Road, were spoilt for choice.

Ron Wiggin and his wife Karen had 504 hanging in the bar after one customer gave them one five years previously.

Since then, regulars and particularly Royal Marines from the nearby barracks, started bringing keyrings into the pub from their travels.

Mr Wiggins said: ‘The marines bring in a lot of keyrings from wherever they’ve been on duty. It’s a very enjoyable hobby.’
