Women who helped protect Portsmouth from fire during Second World War | Nostalgia

The National Fire Service was the single fire service created in Great Britain in 1941 during the w ar.

A separate National Fire Service (Northern Ireland) was created in 1942.

Although Doreen Kewell lived in Canterbury Road, Southsea, she was based at Wintershill, Durley, near Bishop’s Waltham. She travelled there every day by bus.
