Universal Credit bank holiday dates for May 2020: Changes to child benefits, tax credits, PIP and ESA

The last month of spring has two bank holidays – one at the start of the month and another at the end.
The first of these will take place on Friday, May 8, instead of its traditional place on the first Monday of the month.
The second one will take place on Monday, May 25.

Hide AdDue to the double bank holiday means that people who receive benefits or universal credit could see their payment dates be moved.
Here’s what you need to know:
This is how payment dates will change due to the May bank holidays:
Early May bank holiday
- If you are due to be paid Universal Credit on May 8, you will be paid on May 7
- If you are due to be paid Universal Credit on May 9, you will be paid on May 7

Hide Ad- If you are due to be paid Universal Credit on May 10, you will be paid on May 7
Late May bank holiday
- If you are due to be paid Universal Credit on May 23, you will be paid on May 22
- If you are due to be paid Universal Credit on May 24, you will be paid on May 22
- If you are due to be paid Universal Credit on May 25, you will be paid on May 22
PIP

Hide AdPersonal Independent Payments (PIP) will also be affected by the double bank holiday this month.
It has replaced Disability Living Allowance (DLA), which will be ending soon – although if you receive this you will continue to until you are invited to apply for PIP.
PIP is typically paid once every four weeks.
Here’s how it will change this month:
Early May bank holiday
- If you are due to receive PIP on May 8, you will be paid on May 7 instead.
Late May bank holiday
- If you are due to receive PIP in May 25, you will be paid on May 22 instead.
Child benefit
