999 alert after fire breaks out in Southsea home

FIREFIGHTERS were alerted after flames broke out at a Southsea property.

Crews rushed to the home in Stansted Road, Southsea, at 12.15am, after an occupant called to say a fire had started in one of the bedrooms.

The resident had safely got out of the house and no-one was trapped inside.

Firefighters used breathing apparatus to enter and extinguish the flames before checking the scene was safe. They left about an hour later.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown.
