Seventeen volunteers from 9 (Plassey) Battery, 12th Regiment Royal Artillery, based at Thorney Island, spent two days at Leigh Park Community Centre.

They painted three parts of the centre that were in need of a makeover.

Lieutenant Sarah Keracher, troop commander, said: ‘Having some down time during our high readiness commitment, whereby we are deployable anywhere around the world at 30 days’ notice, we wanted to offer our skills and manpower to benefit a local community project.’
