Brothers follow their BMX'¨dreams thanks to sponsor

Brothers Sam and Oli are chasing their dreams thanks to sponsorship from their local Everyone Active centre.

Fareham Leisure Centre, which is operated by Everyone Active on behalf of Fareham Borough Council, are supporting the youngsters in their training and with their kit.

Both from Fareham, Sam, aged 11 and Oli, aged 14, started BMX racing in September 2014 and are now racing at regional and national events almost every weekend.

Fareham Leisure Centre sponsored the juniors £500 towards their competitions and provided six weeks of personal training sessions with Everyone Active personal trainer, Dan Jackson.

The brothers also received complimentary Everyone Active memberships.

Paula Wright, mum to the boys said:

‘We went on holiday to Cornwall a couple of years ago and visited a bike track where the boys fell in love with the sport.

‘BMX racing has really grown in popularity since its arrival in the Olympic Games, Sam and Oli’s dream is to compete at the world championships, so I’m hugely grateful to Everyone Active for helping them along the way.’

The brothers now visit the centre twice a week and follow the tailored gym programme created by Dan.

The boys work on strength-building exercises and also practise sprint intervals on the exercise bikes to build the fast-twitch muscle fibres needed for the speed and intensity of a BMX race.

Ryan Grant, general manager at Everyone Active said: ‘We are happy to be sponsoring Sam and Oli with their competitions and training.

‘We can see how driven they are and the results they have achieved so far are outstanding.

The boys are now setting their sights high for the future.
