Burglars threaten Waterlooville family with young children after breaking in

RESIDENTS have insisted ‘someone must have seen something’ after a Waterlooville family were threatened by a group of burglars who had broken into their home.

The burglary happened in Padnell Road between 9pm and 9.30pm on Thursday night after four black men are thought to have accessed the house from the rear – having climbed over a 15 foot fence which adjoins a park.

The men broke into the house by smashing a glass patio door at the back of the house before threatening four family members – a couple in their forties and a teenage boy and girl.

The burglars stole jewellery, including a fake Rolex which has a rose gold face and black rubber strap, mobile phones, a Mac book, a Sony Playstation, a set of keys and several games and DVDs.

They also stole a number of coats including a light blue Canada Goose coat. The DVDs, a quantity of jewellery and phones were found discarded close to the rear of the address.

Police believe it was an ‘isolated incident’ and have appealed for information.

Residents, meanwhile, have revealed their shock but believe someone must have seen something.

One person, who wished to be anonymous, said: ‘The house is on a busy road where there’s a junction and there’s a field round the back with a car park where there’s normally a few cars. There’s also CCTV.

‘Also, this is mainly a white neighbourhood so you would have thought someone would have noticed four black men acting suspiciously before they carried out the burglary.’

Another person said: ‘Some people may as well advertise when they are away with them putting up their blinds and gates and turning off their lights.’

Members of the neighbourhood watch team added: ‘Our thoughts go out to the family. It must have been very frightening for them. We’re glad they are ok.’
