Cash raised for community wheelchair

WITH tombolas and a craft fair, a community group has raised the funds for a wheelchair.

The Portchester Community Association fundraised £703 to buy a wheelchair that can be used at their hub in West Street and in the precinct.

Volunteer Joan Searle, 82, said: ‘I suggested we raise money for a wheelchair as we can use it when we go on trips and about the centre and it will be so useful to the community.’

Fellow volunteer Margaret Gillmore, 77, said: ‘It will benefit everyone and only the other day we had someone fall outside and it meant we could bring them in to the hub easily.’
