Christmas card competition for homelessness charity winners revealed

THE winners have been chosen in a Christmas card design competition for a homeless charity.

Eight lucky entrants will have their designs made into Christmas cards and subsequently sold to raise money to provide more housing for homeless people.

Homelessness charity The Society of St James, who provide support for the city’s homeless, ran the initiative.

Eighty-three designs were received in the competition from dozens of schoolchildren, which were judged by members of the charity, Portsmouth resident Jo Buckley and Councillor Donna Jones, leader of the city council.

Trevor Pickup, the charity’s CEO, said: ‘We are always overwhelmed by the support people provide to various SSJ campaigns and this is no exception.

‘We would like to thank everyone who submitted a design and are sorry we can’t use them all.’

Cllr Jones added: ‘I was blown away by the number of entries received, which were of such a high quality. It was lovely to see how much effort people had put in, which made choosing just eight winning designs really difficult.
