An investigation has been launched and officers are speaking to a ‘number of young people’, a Hampshire police spokesman said.

The statement said: ‘We are investigating after some explicit videos of a child were shared on social media this week.

‘We are in the process of conducting a thorough investigation and are speaking to a number of young people in connection with this incident.

‘The teenage girl involved is being supported by specialist police officers and partner agencies. As an investigation is ongoing, we remind people not to speculate – especially on social media – as it may compromise the investigation.

‘The advice from the police remains the same: if a child or young person receives this video on any social media platform - be it Snapchat, Instagram, WhatsApp or any other channel - they should delete it immediately and tell a trusted adult, such as a teacher or parent.’

It comes just a week after a man was jailed for blackmailing a girl into making a sexual video with her brother.
