Arrests as community centre in Portsmouth is burgled

Two men have been arrested after a burglary at a community centre.

Power tools were taken from the Stacey Centre, in Walsall Road, Copnor, last night at 7pm.

Police went to the centre and shortly later arrested two men, 39 and 23, from Portsmouth, on suspicion of burglary.

A police spokesman said: ‘They remain in custody at this time as our investigations continue today.

It comes after Inspector David Sanderson warned empty premises in Portsmouth were ‘at risk of being illegally occupied or damaged’ due to closures in the coronavirus lockdown.
