Body found in search for missing Hampshire walker

The body of a man has been found in the search for a hillwalker from Hampshire missing in the Highlands.

Edward Davies, 39, was last seen alive in the Clachaig Inn, Glencoe, Lochaber, on Saturday May 9.

He planned to go hillwalking in the area the following day but was reported missing after failing to contact friends or family.

Police said a body was found in Glencoe on Wednesday afternoon and Mr Davies’ family has been informed.

On Wednesday, his family said in a statement they hoped he could be found alive. They said: “We love Edward very much and are all desperate for his safe return.”

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Police in Lochaber can confirm that sadly a man’s body was found in the Glencoe area this afternoon

“The family of Edward Davies, who was reported missing in the area, have been informed.”
