Bungle as detectives investigate their own officers

PLAIN-CLOTHES police have sparked an investigation '“ into themselves.

Hampshire police had told The News it was looking into a ‘suspicious incident’ after a woman in Barney Evans Crescent in Waterlooville reported a man and a woman showing her police badges. But now the force has said they have since discovered the pair were ‘plain clothes officers carrying out routine house-to-house enquiries as part of an ongoing investigation’.

Police had previously told a resident that police did not attend the address and that they would never do so in plain clothes.
