'˜Career' burglar caught in kitchen of Portsmouth house is jailedÂ

A PROLIFIC burglar has been jailed after being caught in the kitchen of a Portsmouth house by the homeowners.

David Uniacke, of Havant Road, Drayton, pleaded guilty at Portsmouth Crown Court to the burglary which happened on June 19.

The 41-year-old admitted to breaking into the Cobden Avenue address just after 11.30pm.

The court heard Uniacke was confronted by the homeowners when they returned home at around 11.40pm and found him in their kitchen.

He fled the house, hopping across gardens to escape but police officers arrived quickly and found him in a nearby garage.

Uniacke was jailed for four years.
