Driver, 21, found at wheel by police after being more than twice over the limit for ketamine

A YOUNG driver has received 10 points on his licence for getting behind the wheel while more than twice over the limit for a controlled drug.Â

Cole Dando, 21, was sentenced at Portsmouth Magistrates Court on Tuesday, after pleading guilty to the offence '“ which occurred at Sea Front on Hayling Island on May 15 this year. 

In charge of a silver Volkswagen Golf at the time, the court heard a test found Dando showed '˜no less than' 43mcg of ketamine per litre of blood. 

The limit for the class-B drug is 20mcg.

With Dando's parents present in the courtroom, it was also heard he had failed to give information relating to the car's owner when asked by police. 

Mitigating, barrister Simon Mojer put the offence down to '˜the folly of youth'. 

Of the defendant, he added:  '˜He is a young man with no previous convictions '“ he has lost a part-time job as a result of this.' 

The court heard Dando will go to the University of Brighton to study sport and exercise science next month.
