Elderly man attacked and robbed at home

AN 84-YEAR-OLD man was assaulted and robbed in his own home by three men who broke in when he was watching television and sleeping.

Police are hunting the attackers who struck at the house in Hazelton Way, Cowplain, at around 6pm yesterday (January 13).

One man broke the back door in to enter the home and found the pensioner in his lounge.

The thug then tried to confuse his victim by telling him to look at the damage and asking for £50.

Two other men then came in and knocked the pensioner to the floor before stealing his wallet.

Detective Constable Barry Martin from the Eastern Investigations Team called it a ‘despicable crime’.

DC Martin said: ‘We are appealing to anyone who saw these males in the vicinity of Hazelton Way on Wednesday or anyone who recognises these descriptions.

‘This is a despicable crime committed by three men who targeted an elderly man in his home. If anyone has any information about this incident please call 101 and quote 44160019000.’

All three assailants are described as white and in their mid 20s.

One of the men had short dark wavy hair, was 5ft 6in with a medium build and was clean shaven. He was wearing dark clothing and footwear.

The second man had a muscular, stocky build, was clean shaven with dark, curly hair.

He had a local accent and was wearing a black army-style jacket, dark trousers and heavy boots.

The third man was 5ft 8in with a slight build, dark hair and was wearing a dark bobble hat.
