Farming-related crime is costing communities £1m
RURAL crime has dropped but costs £1m a year, an insurer says.
NFU Mutual revealed Hampshire loses out to the tune of £1m – down from £1.4m – due to rural crime.
Farm tools, quad bikes and garden equipment were the items most commonly stolen by thieves in the county over the previous 12 months, according to the NFU’s Rural Crime Report.
Patrick Govier, NFU Mutual Agent in Hampshire said: ‘Rural thieves are becoming increasingly sophisticated and using computers rather than bolt cutters to steal from farms and country properties.’
