Hampshire woman remanded after being charged with murder of newborn baby found in woodland in Hythe

A 37-year-old woman has appeared in court charged with the murder of a newborn baby boy.

Silipa Keresi, from Pylewell Road, Hythe, Hampshire, appeared at Southampton Magistrates’ Court in connection with the death of the “recently born baby” who was found in an area of woodland in Hythe on March 5, 2020.

A Hampshire Police spokesman said Keresi was originally arrested in March before being re-arrested last weekend and charged.

A spokeswoman for the court confirmed that the deceased was called Maliki Keresi.

She was remanded into custody following the short hearing and will next appear at Winchester Crown Court on Wednesday March 31.
