Havant leaders welcome proposal to build £18m police centre in town

A CIVIC leader in Havant has welcomed the prospect of £18m police investigation centre being built.

Many people in the town believe a police hub built in Harts Farm Way would be a boost for Havant.

The site is within easy reach of the A27 and A3(M).

As reported in The News yesterday, Simon Hayes, Hampshire’s police and crime commissioner, has been hunting for land in Portsmouth for the new centre, which would house 400 police and have cells.But with land proving too expensive in the city, his office is now considering a site on the Broadmarsh industrial estate. Bedhampton councillor Ken Smith said it would be a ‘very beneficial development for Havant’.Response and neighbourhood teams could move to Portsmouth Guildhall under the plan.
