Huge hunt for man believed to have jumped from Gosport bridge

A major hunt was launched for a man who disappeared after apparently jumping from a Gosport bridge.

Police and coastguards joined the search for 27-year-old Michael Stratton (pictured).

He has not been seen since around 2pm yesterday, when he was in Clayhall Road, Gosport.

A Hampshire Constabulary spokesman said: ‘It’s believed he was jumping off the Jackie Spencer bridge, known locally as the black bridge, into the water.

‘The Coastguard was called, but Michael hasn’t been located. We’re concerned for his welfare.

‘We’d like to hear from any witnesses, or anyone who has seen Michael since 2pm or anyone with any information.Please call 101.’
