Hunt for van driver in hit-and-run crash

A CYCLIST was knocked off his bike when he was hit by the wing mirror of a passing van.

Police are hunting for the driver after they failed to stop after the crash.

The 47-year-old cyclist was on the B2150 East Hoe Road at Droxford when he was struck. He suffered injuries to his shoulder, ribs and arm and was left lying on the verge.

Hampshire police said the vehicle was large, possibly a van, and black.

The vehicle was heading towards Denmead and turned off at the crossroads following the incident on Thursday at 3.35pm.

PC Peter Sarginson said: ‘We would appeal to anyone who saw this incident to come forward and speak to us.

‘We believe the driver of the vehicle would have been aware of the impact of the collision due to the injury sustained by the cyclist, so we would urge them to come forward and help us with our enquiries.’
