Man arrested after assault in Southsea

A man from Portsmouth has been arrested after an assault in Southsea in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Hampshire Police said a 20-year-old man was found lying on the ground at the junction between Frensham Road and Heyshott Road at about 4.15am.

He had suffered a head injury and was taken to the Queen Alexandra Hospital with serious injuries.

He has since been discharged.

A 27-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of GBH and has been bailed until January 19 2017.
