Man hit out with hard hat

AN ATTACKER has been spared jail for hitting a man with a hard hat.

Anthony Woodward, 56, of Sparsholt Close, Havant, admitted assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

He assaulted Kevin Sutton on July 7 last year in Waterlooville, striking him once with a hard hat. Woodward also hit him.

Portsmouth magistrates handed him a 24-week jail term suspended for 12 months.

Woodward must pay £500 in compensation and £620 costs.
