Since the incident, residents around the Hempsted Road area have spoken of their shock – as many had no idea the attack took place outside their homes.
A 30-year-old woman from Ludlow Road said: ‘Hearing about this was quite shocking because it’s quite quiet around here.
‘It worries me quite a lot because I have a young daughter, it’s frightening to think about that happening just outside your house.’

‘I suppose it was a case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time.’
A woman from Elkstone Road, who wished to remain anonymous, added: ‘I saw the police going around this morning when I went to pick up my sister.
