Pensioner charged with causing A32 Wickham cyclist's death

POLICE have charged a driver with causing the death of a cyclist.

Jeanette Smith, 69, of Little Corner, Denmead, is due to appear at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court next month.

She has been charged with causing death by careless driving and will appear on August 16.

It comes after 20-year-old William Houghton, from Buckinghamshire, died in a crash on the A32 at Wickham on January 28 before 11.15am.

The Serious Collision Investigation Unit said the collision involved a white Citroen C3 bring driven by Ms Smith and a cyclist,

Mr Houghton died on January 30 in hospital.
