Pensioner has purse snatched while shopping in Cosham charity shop

A SHOPLIFTER snatched a pensioner's purse before stealing hundreds of pounds from her bank account.

The victim, a 78-year-old, was shopping at the British Heart Foundation charity shop, in High Street, Cosham, when her purse was stolen.

One of her bank cards was then used to withdraw more than £400 from her account, on Wednesday, November 22, between 11.30am and 11.45am, police said.

Police have now issued an image of the woman they would like to speak to in connection with the crime.

Officers are also appealing for any witnesses who may have been in the store to come forward and calling 101 quoting reference 44170454692.

Hampshire police has now warned people to be vigilent when shopping.

A spokeswoman said: We would also like to take this opportunity to remind people to keep their bags zipped up and wallets and purses out of sight, especially during the festive period when shops are particularly busy.’
