Boasting 36 cells, the station will be designed to house detainees for the eastern area of Hampshire.

CID teams currently at Fratton station will also be moved into the offices.

Waterlooville station, which has 12 cells, will be retained.

The Pic was due to be in place this year but there has been a delay in finding a site.

Crime commissioner Michael Lane said: ‘I am delighted we are making progress.’
