Portsmouth stabbing: two women bailed as man remains in '˜very serious' condition

TWO women arrested after a stabbing have been bailed as one of the victims remains in a '˜very serious' condition.

It comes after two men, 50 and 31 from Southsea, were taken to Southampton General Hospital following an attack in Somers Road, Somerstown, on Friday night.

Police initially said the older man suffered life-threatening injuries.

But Hampshire police has refused to say what offences the women, 35 from Portsmouth and 26 from Southsea, were arrested for but have said they have since been bailed.

A spokesman said: ‘One man remains in a very serious condition in hospital.

‘The two women arrested at the time have been bailed.’

The owner of KS General Store, in the street, yesterday told of the moment one of the stabbing victims walked into her store covered in blood.

Mekala Ravi was working at the shop at 8.30pm.

She said: ‘I was alone in the shop and he came in the shop.

‘He had already been attacked, he came in with blood over him.

‘His whole body was covered with blood – two people were stabbed.
