Portsmouth teenager arrested after man is robbed and police officer is assaulted

DETECTIVES have arrested a teenager after a man was robbed in the centre of Portsmouth yesterday.

Jordan Hill, 19, of Greetham Street, Portsmouth, has been charged with robbery, Hampshire police have today announced.

It comes following an investigation into a robbery of a 21-year-old man in Guildhall Square, just after midnight on Sunday.

A spokeswoman for Hampshire police said: ‘The victim suffered significant injuries to his face and had his phone stolen.

‘Mr Hill has also been charged with an assault on an emergency worker. This relates to an assault of a police officer on February 16.’

The 19-year-old was due to appear in front at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court today, Hampshire police added.

Detectives are still appealing for witnesses to the robbery to come forward. Anyone with any information is urged to contact police on 101 quoting reference number 44200059414.
