Portsmouth v Southampton match policing operation in pictures as it happened on the streets

SEVEN men involved in violent disorder at the Pompey v Saints match have been jailed today.

The men were arrested after a police investigation into clashes before, during and after the game at Fratton Park on September 24 last year.

These photos show what The Newsreporters on the ground captured in the streets of Portsmouth that night – and are not connected to the court case.

Officers were pelted with bricks, pool balls, bottles and coins – while Saints fans suffered head injuries after having similar items thrown at them.

The Blues lost the match 4-0, knocking them out of the Carabao Cup at the third round.
