Sentence is suspended
A SHOPLIFTER has avoided jail after magistrates suspended his sentence.
James Cannon, 34, of Gosport Road, Fareham, admitted theft of £20 of alcohol from Tesco in Quay Street, Fareham, on May 27.
He also admitted assault by beating. Portsmouth magistrates imposed a 12-week jail term suspended for a year.
