Shoplifter on spree narrowly avoids jail

A SHOPLIFTER has narrowly avoided prison after going on a spree '“ despite stealing from a charity shop.

Charlotte Keaton stole hundreds of pounds of items in just one day.

The 35-year-old targeted three shops on February 1 in Fareham.

At Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court she was handed a suspended prison term.

Keaton, of Belvoir Close, Fareham, admitted three thefts.

They were:

n Clothes and homeware worth £403.83 from TK Maxx.

n Items of stationery worth £71.91 from WH Smith.

n Clothes from a charity shop worth £8.75 from Solent Diabetes Association.

Magistrates imposed a one-week prison sentence for each theft suspended for nine months.

She also stealing £104 worth of hygiene and beauty products from Lloyds Pharmacy on March 2 in Fareham.

In all she got four weeks suspended for nine months.

She must also pay £254.98 compensation.
