He committed that offence on March 21 in Commercial Road, Portsmouth. Crowle also admitted failing to surrender to custody on April 8.

And he also admitted stealing candles in Asda, Havant, on March 8 and using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour with intent to cause fear of violence or violence would be provoked at the same place.

District judge Anne Arnold jailed him for 22 weeks at Fareham Magistrates’ Court.

They took his guilty plea into consideration when sentencing him on May 20.

The court heard he has a record of 75 previous offences of theft, record of failing to surrender and breaking court orders. No compensation was ordered.
