Woman, 19, suffers head injuries after being 'pushed down concrete steps' in Southsea

A TEENAGER suffered head injuries after being pushed down a flight of constairs.

Police said the 19-year-old woman was pushed by a person in a group of teenagers on Saturday night between 7.30pm and 8pm.

She suffered grazing and a lump on her head and was taken to Southampton General Hospital with a ‘number of injuries’.

It happened on the stairs that lead from the seafront near the Deep Blue fish and chip shop in Clarence Esplanade.

In a public Facebook post published a day after the attack, a man who said he was the woman's father said: ‘(My daughter) was down the common yesterday and after using the toilets by the old D-Day museum, and walking back along the top of Castle Field towards the Blue Reef, someone decided to push her down the concrete steps and she is now alone in Southampton.'

He added: ‘This was a completely random attack around 7.45pm last night Saturday, May 30 by a young lad aged about 16 who was with a group of mates.

‘The police are involved and making progress with their enquiries but any information from anyone will be greatly appreciated and treated with discretion.

‘Please share, this person needs to be caught and dealt with.’

A Hampshire police spokesman said: ‘This took place between 7.30pm and 8pm on 30 May, when the 19-year-old victim was pushed by a member of a group of teenagers.

‘She was subsequently taken to Southampton General Hospital for treatment to a number of injuries including grazing and a lump on her head.

‘Enquiries are ongoing.
