Hampshire-based housebuilder Linden Homes Southern gave £500 to St Barnabas Church’s efforts for the Paterson Centre, at Church Road, Swanmore.

This brings the total raised to more than £2,000.

The building is used by a wide variety of village groups with regular activities including a nursery, guides, coffee mornings and clubs for bridge and art.

As well as the hall, the Paterson Centre is also home to Barnaby’s coffee shop and a church.

St Barnabas is not far from Linden Homes’s Scholar’s Grange development off New Road. When the company saw it could help, it contacted the church and offered to contribute to the ramp.

Vicar Claire Towns says: ‘We are keen to be able to build this ramp as soon as possible to make the excellent facilities we have here even more accessible and available for a wider range of users. Huge thanks to Linden Homes for their contribution.’

Tina Chalk from Linden Homes adds: ‘The Paterson Centre is a highly-valued community facility. We wanted to help make it accessible for everyone, including wheelchair-users and parents with prams.

‘We’re delivering new family homes at Scholar’s Grange which we think will be popular, but we’re keen for our contribution to the village to go beyond the building site.’

Scholar’s Grange is a development of three, four and five-bedroom homes.
