Festival will be a place of learning for children

A MUSIC festival has unveiled a scheme enabling children to attend without being penalised.

Due to the number of activities in Blissfields’ Angel Gardens arena, under-13s can officially count Blissfields as off-site learning, meaning that they won’t be marked as absent while at the event.

Organisers of the festival, which takes place on Friday, July 1 and Saturday, July 2 near Winchester, will provide an absence request letter.

The letter will include contact details for the Angel Gardens education team, who will answer any questions from the school and send a full learning and syllabus for the weekend.

By using the classification of ‘educated off-site’ in the register, children are legally able to be absent from school on the agreed days. All activities and workshops in the arena are designed to fulfil educational learning aims and objectives.

Parents who take their children out of school without permission risk a £60 fine.
