Firefighters called to blaze in middle of the Solent
FIREFIGHTERS were called to a blaze on a fort in the Solent.
The emergency services were alerted at around 5.30pm to the fire at a luxury hotel on Spitbank Fort.
Lifeboats from Gosport, Portsmouth and Bembridge were sent to the fort in case people there needed to be evacuated. The Coastguard Rescue Team from Portsmouth was also tasked.

Hide AdHowever, within 15 minutes of the first report, the fire was under control and by 6pm it was out.
Gosport and Fareham Inshore Rescue Service assisted in the transportation of Hampshire Fire & Rescue Service crews to the fort so they could assess the site.
