Fort off Portsmouth named as one of the '˜quirkiest' UK wedding venues

Out in the Solent, Spitbank Fort is the ninth most popular quirky wedding venue, according to insurance firm Protectivity.

The company used Instagram posts to compile the list. They found 2,255 people used the hashtag #spitbankfort on the big day.

The fort was also the only venue to be listed in the south coast.

Marketing manager Sean Walsh said: '˜Your wedding day is a day to be remembered, and your venue should be too.

'˜The venue is extremely important, as ultimately if something goes wrong with your venue, or it's not quite right, it can have a huge impact on your big day.

'˜It's great to see people exploring beyond the norms to make their day that extra bit special.'
