Green Flag Award for two parks in Fareham

TWO green spaces have been given a prestigious title of a Green Flag Award.

The two sites in Fareham have achieved the status, which is only given to parks which meet the high standards in horticulture, cleanliness and community involvement.

The sensory garden in Fareham Town Centre has now been given the award for eight years in a row, while Holly Hill Woodland Park received the recognition for the ninth year running.

Executive member for leisure and community, Councillor Sue Bell, said: ‘It’s great to see two of our best open spaces receiving this recognition once again.

‘They are lovely places for a visit, especially with the family during the summer holidays.’

Executive member for Streetscene, Councillor Tiffany Harper, added: ‘We really value our parks and open spaces. Retaining these Green Flag Awards is recognition of the hard work of our dedicated staff and the help they receive from volunteers.’
