GUNWHARF Quays is to once again host a fireworks extravaganza to raise money for the children’s charity Barnardo’s.
The event, which will take place on Thursday, November 8, will be hosted by radio station Wave 105 and will feature live performances and a waterfront fireworks display and is expected to attract thousands of people.
Colin Wilding, general manager at Gunwharf Quays in Portsmouth, said: ‘The annual fireworks extravaganza is one of the biggest events in our calendar and we are delighted to be once again hosting the display.’
Whilst this year’s performances are yet to be announced, previous acts have included M.O., X Factor’s Matt Terry, J P Cooper and Girls Aloud star Nadine Coyle.
The Barnardo’s Bears will also be in attendance to help entertain the crowds and to promote the work of the charity in helping to eradicate child poverty.
‘Although admission to our event is free, we are encouraging visitors to donate as much as they can. If everyone visiting gave just 50p we could raise an incredible amount to help some of the most vulnerable people in our community,’ said Mr Wilding.
