‘We’re excited to be hosting the Portsmouth auditions,’ said Cascades centre director Rhoda Joseph.

‘There are some incredibly talented young bands and singers in the city and X Factor represents a fantastic opportunity for people to show off their talent.

‘Everyone at the centre is looking forward to seeing if the next star of tomorrow comes from the area.’

The auditions are open to groups or individuals aged 16 or over, and will be held from 10am until 5pm, opposite TK Maxx.

As the auditions are held on a strictly first-come first-served basis, acts are advised to arrive early to avoid missing out.

If the hopefuls impress with their vocals, they will be in with a chance of auditioning in front of the X Factor judges, when the judges’ auditions proper take place in summer.

‘We might see the next One Direction, Little Mix, Ella Henderson or Olly Murs coming through the centre’s auditions,’ said Rhoda.

‘In 2012, series winner James Arthur tried out at a mobile audition so it is a huge opportunity and we’re proud and excited to be a part of it.’

To date, One Direction have sold 55m records worldwide, Olly Murs has achieved success with four multi-platinum albums and to date, Little Mix has sold 3.3m albums globally. Last year’s winner Louisa Johnson is currently working on her debut album.
